Job Location & Development
The Job Location and Development (JLD) Program is a federally funded program designed to help students find part-time employment in their communities while pursuing their studies.
These opportunities are available to all ~30,000 UT Dallas students.
Our affiliated employers are hiring highly motivated students who are broadening their academic interests into the employment arena. Employers often find that an excellent part-time employee can become a reliable full-time prospect upon graduation – the JLD Program bridges that career-readiness gap.
Employer Advantage
We facilitate matching our tech-savvy UT Dallas talent to agencies who need them. These student employees bring a fresh perspective to the table while giving them a jump start in their careers, at a much more affordable rate to their employers.
The Office of Student Employment offers our partners:
- Premium access to qualified UT Dallas candidates and the Student Employment staff.
- Expedited job posting approval to a deep talent pool
- Pre-filtered posting to qualified talent with relevant subject matter knowledge
Candidate Selection
We are a Handshake campus and utilize the job posting feature to advertise 100% of our student positions.
Selecting your final candidate(s) from the Handshake application pool is at your discretion. To a large extent, your applicants are self-starters looking for the right opportunity to enhance their work in the classroom.
Federal Guidelines
- Positions are generally part time, but they can be full-time roles.
- These developed jobs within the community must not displace any existing staff within those agencies.
